Plot
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living by committing murders for the biggest sums of money. The novel «The Day of the Jackal» is set in 1963 and is about an assassination attempt on the then French President Charles de Gaulle.

The series shifts the setting to the present. In my opinion, the series is worth watching, not least because Eddie Redmayne’s performance as a contract killer is simply extraordinary.
He also comes across as very convincing as someone who is very knowledgeable about weapons and who demonstrates strength, drive and quick decision-making skills even in action scenes
He plays his role incredibly versatile, in one scene he is very natural and loving like a family man, in another scene he is completely calculating and icy, and you can certainly believe it from his very differentiated facial features. The female lead of secret agent Bianca, on the other hand, is unfortunately, in my opinion, a very shallow role of a woman who can only strike and is not subtle at all.
There are also unnecessary family scenes that completely distract from the actual plot
She is very ruthless, both towards her own family and towards her sources, and she has much more screen time than the Jackal, which unfortunately slows down the tension more often. I find her plot far too broad and her character far too unsympathetic to find the series 100% good.

But because Eddie’s acting is so remarkable and the series is of incredibly high aesthetic quality, with stunning city and landscape shots and first-class James Bond-style music, I think it is worth watching. A new season of «Silo» is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
