Men and women live in a giant underground silo with different rules they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic, ruined world above. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are the stuff of science fiction. The first season covers the first 30 chapters of the book «Wool» – the book has 82 chapters. The floor fans in several episodes spin the wrong way, relative to the orientation of the blades. Spinning this way doesn’t push or pull air. Featured in WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 on Binge Watch (2023). This is an interesting take on the story of underground bunkers, a people who survived so long underground that a civilization arose within, with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals and ceremonies rooted in forgotten events, and a status quo social structure was established. And when the status quo that preserves order is challenged, there is enforcement and punishment. A power structure is formed, creating a stratified population, figuratively and literally, from the top of the silo to the bottom. That’s the premise, and while not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here and it feels well-executed for a TV series. Oyelowo is good in acting, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (But as you can see from the series poster, it’s the guest stars who will be giving way to the series regulars, with Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role.) The series looks decent enough, with good production values. There are elaborate sets and good CGI to provide a believable atmosphere. While a suspicious mind will quickly spot any conspiracies, there are mysteries uncovered that will keep me watching.
