Fast & Furious: Showdown: Review
The films «Furious» do not claim the status of high cinema – the script, directing and the work of the actors as a whole of stars from the sky are not enough, and all this could be classified as «B». But they have the main thing – vivid, charismatic personalities and a completely running degree of madness. It turns out, albeit somewhat untidy, rude, in some places primitive, but terribly fascinating cinema, which simply does not give you time to get bored. That’s about the same can be said about the racing action Fast & Furious: Showdown, dedicated to the exit of the last for today, the sixth part of the «Furious».

Formally, we have a rather primitive clone of any of the last Need for Speed. All the way our heroes, as expected, are chasing from someone or someone. These chases look simple – they can be arrested, but you can destroy the pursuers;No negotiations of cops on a walkie -talkie, spikes scattered along the highway, or helicopters shooting us.
Like other similar games, «Furious: Fight» Encourages hooliganism and destruction – for the demolition of the pillars, the cars shot down or disabled (especially police), travel at high speed under the tracking cameras, a defiantly long drift and so on you give out experience points. There is even the opportunity to rush from the springboard and enter the advertising poster, like in Burnout Paradise. The game carefully calculates the flight range (like, for example, the number of machines you have lost) and preactes the bonus «Expo».
However, comparing all this even with the last Need for Speed: Most Wanted or with the same Burnout Paradise. If only because the city in Fast & Furious: Showdown absolutely cannot be called open. Here, at every step, invisible walls are waiting for you – there are no bypass tracks, gas stations where you can instantly repair a “wheelbarrow”, or places where it can be quickly changed to another.
The tuning system is also primitive. Accumulating experience, the player grows in levels and unlocks new opportunities for the “customization” of his beloved car, and they mainly come down to painting options. There are still so-called mods, in fact “upgrades”, which work as passive skills in a role-playing game- one, for example, increases the “health” of the machine, the second gives a bonus to speed, the third one time in the race activates temporary invulnerability when your grunts is aboutIt will fall apart. But you can take only three such improvements at the same time, they open slowly and generally slightly affect the game.
In addition to the plot missions, there is a test mode where you need, for example, to hold out as long as possible during the chase.
Acceleration what is needed!
However, a paradox – one mission passes, another, gradually neglecting smile leaves your face, and now you are already with burning eyes, sticking out your tongue, trying to overcome the competitor or cop and smear it on the fencing of the bridge (the benefit in the game is very successfully and conveniently realized the mirror of the backtype). Fast & Furious: Showdown gains momentum and, like the film, takes primarily a binding dynamics, madness. Moscow, Rio, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Mexico City-cities and events change every minute.

At the same time, places Fast & Furious: Showdown – A very difficult game. It is sometimes a shame to win in races, it is a shame to admit, from the thirtieth. The fact is that, firstly, the management model is by no means primitive-you need to try to carefully enter the turn. Secondly, they constantly interfere with you. A cars of opponents love to ram, butt and cut each other. And you also succumb to common fun, especially when peppy music sounds in the headphones. Then the cars are steadily smoking, sparkle with crumpled sides, they suddenly begin to bring them. Or they completely fail.
In a word, there is enough adrenaline in this “Furious”. Fast & Furious: Showdown will not conquer game charts, it does not offer any innovations and breakthroughs. It is difficult to distinguish it in some places from the usual playing game that deserves the maximum space in the garbage basket. But if you just relax, discard all unnecessary comparisons and give the game a chance, it will allow you to have at least a couple of hours to have fun. Isn’t this the main task of any video game in its original sense?
