Remake of The Mole Agent (2020)
Plot
Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a spy in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says, “The Mole Agent” is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar across all ages, ethnicities, and genders, and I would describe that feeling very reductively as, “I have to call my mom.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of wanting to call our moms?
I loved it!
What I expected was a cliché-filled comedy about someone undercover, his crazy antics, and his shenanigans. and so on.
Instead, we have a show about a man who not only helped others but actually helped him heal from the loss of his wife
Cheesy one-liners aside, I actually got emotional during some parts because of the way the topics were handled – like the resident with memory issues. However, it wasn’t all serious that it made you feel depressed or bored throughout the episodes, it kept the show watchable because you wanted to see how it happened – who stole it, etc.
The acting cast was great, cinematography & locations well done
I really hope they make another season and more. They bring a great mix of laughs, emotions, writing, location and cast, like they did in Charles’s next detective adventures, like they did in this one.
